The United States Postal Service has released a new collection of Barbie Forever stamps, unveiled Saturday in Austin during the National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention.
The stamps celebrate the iconic doll’s influence across decades, featuring Barbie in a variety of professional roles. Designs include a 1961 registered nurse, 1973 surgeon, 1986 astronaut, 1995 firefighter, 1996 paleontologist, 2000 sign language teacher, 2018 robotics engineer, 2019 judge, 2022 soccer player, and 2025 musical artist.
USPS representatives promoted the collection at the Hilton Downtown Austin as part of the annual convention, which draws collectors from across the country and around the world. The stamps were designed by USPS art director Ethel Kessler in collaboration with Mattel.
This marks the second time Barbie has appeared on U.S. postage stamps. The first was in 1999 as part of a 1960s-themed collection, where she was depicted in a style inspired by First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
Lisa Bobb-Semple, USPS director of stamp services, noted the enduring popularity of the original Barbie stamp and the desire to highlight the doll’s representation of diverse careers. The Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee selects designs that inspire and reflect American culture.
Collectors at the event expressed excitement, with one longtime fan and nurse highlighting the medical-themed stamps as personal favorites. The convention provides a gathering point for enthusiasts who view Barbie as more than a toy — a cultural icon promoting possibility and achievement.
The Forever stamps are valid for first-class postage indefinitely, making them a lasting collectible. They are now available for purchase at USPS locations and online.
The release adds to Austin’s growing profile as a host for major cultural and fan events, bringing visitors to the city and supporting local businesses during the convention weekend.
