Students moved into residence halls Thursday at the University of Texas at Arlington. The university says more than 2,700 students live at five residence halls.

UT Arlington's enrollment is more than 41,000. More than 4,000 live on campus either in apartments or residence halls.

West Hall houses 534 students. Maverick Hall is opening next door for the fall semester and can house 654 students.

"I have so many friends up here especially with the new building," a sophomore said as he was moving in. "We're all kind of split up, but we're right next to each other. We kept in touch during the summer, so we're already planning hangouts for this weekend."

"It think it's time, I'm ready. I'm not scared," a freshman said. "It's time for the real world, I've got to learn some things."

His parents and sister were helping him unload their car. His dad said the sister had started at Tarleton State last year.

"We're actually empty nesters this year," he said. "He's moving out, and it's tougher than I thought it was going to be, but it's familiar because we did it with her."

The first day of UT Arlington's fall semester is Monday.
