If you've had an appointment at UT Southwestern Medical Center lately, you might want to change your passwords.
That's because the hospital was recently the target of a cyberattack.
On May 28, someone exploited a vulnerability with the hospital's MOVEit software, which securely moves large data files between networks.
The breach was brought to the attention of the UTSW Privacy Office two days later.
Some of the sensitive information compromised includes names, birthdates, name and dosage of medications and, in some cases, Social Security numbers.
UTSW says if you receive a notification from UTSW, that doesn't necessarily mean your identity was stolen -- but you will want to take extra precautions, such as changing passwords and using two-factor authentication.
