The Uvalde school board has called a special meeting for Saturday morning to decide the fate of embattled Police Chief Pete Arredondo. The agenda for the meeting was released the same day as the school district superintendent is recommending Arredondo be fired.

Item three on the agenda calls for a closed session to discuss "the District’s attorney concerning legal and procedural issues related to recommended termination for good cause of the non-certified contract of Pete Arredondo." The item also calls for the bard to "conduct hearing for good cause as recommended by the superintendent of the non-certified contract of Pete Arredondo."

The Board then intends to reconvene in public to take action.

Arredondo has been the target for, what the parents say, is sloppy law enforcement for keeping officers from entering the classroom of the Robb elementary school for more than an hour, even as shots were heard inside the classroom where 17 students were slaughtered.

Some of the parents call the Superintendent’s actions a good start.

"There’s more people than just him that need to be held accountable," said parent Alfred Garza III whose daughter Amerie Jo, 10, was among the victims. "There were multiple agencies there, multiple officers that were at the school when this event happened. I do think that this is a starting point for us to get some sort of accountability."

Arredondo has been on suspension since right after the shooting.  He resigned his new seat on the city council without ever attending a meeting.
