An Austin woman has been jailed in Garland accused of stealing an ambulance, leading police on a chase, and then crashing.

Police say 34-year-old Kimberly Fouty of Austin made off with one of the Wilmer Fire Department's ambulances after the crew took a patient to Baylor University Medical Center. It was 12 miles later than the ambulance crashed into a gas line at a house in Garland, then led police on a chase up Rowlett Road. That ended when it crashed into a guard rail near Lake Ray Hubbard.

Garland Police Officer Felicia Jones says it's humorous until you think that Fouty may have been under the influence.

She faces a number of felony charges including a third charge of driving while intoxicated.
