An armored truck driving in North Carolina last week lost an estimated $100,000 in cash after it fell out of the vehicle and was picked up by those walking by.

The police are now looking to find anyone who grabbed some of the money that spilled out of the GardaWorld truck last Thursday in Charlotte.

The truck reportedly had a malfunction while driving, and the doors opened, spilling cash crates onto the roadway.

Rob Cook, an employee of Trimmer Barbershop, which is located right where the money was dumped, shared with QCNews that it was crazy as everyone began rushing to grab the cash.

“It was pandemonium, man,” Cook said. “Barrels of money all over the place. Everybody out there.”

Now, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is working to review security camera footage and videos posted to social media to help identify those who took the money.

“Some individuals did make off with some cash,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman Mike Allinger told The Charlotte Observer.

Police have not shared exactly how many people are believed to have taken some of the money.

A spokesperson for GardaWorld shared with NewsNation that the company is conducting an internal investigation and would not be commenting on it.

Still, Cook says that those who swarmed around the truck didn’t get a ton of money if they were able to make off with any.

“They didn’t get too much money if they did get any,” Cook said. “But if you did get that money … you should turn it in.”
