Great Wolf Lodge's ranch dressing milkshake is either genius or 'an abomination'

If you've ever thought a milkshake needed more ranch dressing and a side of chicken nuggets, Great Wolf Lodge has you covered - and the internet has a lot of feelings about it.

If you've ever thought a milkshake needed more ranch dressing and a side of chicken nuggets, Great Wolf Lodge has you covered - and the internet has a lot of feelings about it.

The indoor water park resort chain announced a limited-time Ranch Milkshake available at all of its U.S. locations from March 5 through May 20. The shake blends vanilla ice cream with ranch dressing and is garnished with crispy chicken, carrots, celery, whipped cream, and a sweet, salty lime rim.

A spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge described the drink as a "snack and dessert in one," noting that guests can sip it, gulp it, or use it as a dip for the chicken and vegetables on top. The company timed the release to coincide with National Ranch Day on March 10, when the shake will be sold for exactly $3.10. The regular menu price is $7.99.

Great Wolf Lodge operates 22 resort locations across the United States, making the shake available to a wide swath of families who visit the chain's signature indoor waterparks.

The promotion is tapping into a well-established American obsession. Ranch dressing is one of the country's best-selling condiments, and food brands have long looked for creative ways to lean into that loyalty - sometimes to polarizing effect. Ice cream manufacturer Van Leeuwen previously released a Hidden Valley Ranch ice cream collaboration, with mixed reviews from those who tried it.

Reaction on social media has been sharply divided. Some users expressed outright disgust, with comments including "No why," "absolutely not," and one person writing "I'm calling the cops." Others were enthusiastically curious, with responses like "WHY DO I WANT TO TRY THIS" and "give me 14 of them right now." One commenter offered a pragmatic middle ground, suggesting they would use it as a dip for pickles and French fries rather than drink it straight.

With nearly two dozen locations spread across the country, there is no shortage of opportunity to try the shake - though perhaps not immediately before an afternoon on the waterslides.
