Opening statements have concluded in the Derek Chauvin trial, and prosecution witnesses are now being questioned.
The former Minneapolis officer is charged with unintentional 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.
Attorney Jerry Blackwell made the opening argument for the State of Minnesota - he says Chauvin betrayed his badge.
"When Mr. Floyd was in distress, Mr. Chauvin wouldn't help him, didn't help him. But you're also going to see that (Chauvin) stopped anybody else from being able to help him."
Chauvin's defense attorney Eric Nelson implored the jury to consider all the evidence and remember there are two sides to every story.
"When you review the actual evidence, and when you hear the law and apply reason and common sense, there will only be one just verdict. And that is to find Mr. Chauvin not guilty."
The jury first heard from Jena Scurry, a 911 dispatcher for the city of Minneapolis. She told the jury that she was so concerned for what she saw on surveillance video that she called a the supervising sergeant, even though she was concerned about being a "snitch."
Attorneys asked Scurry if she'd ever made a call like that before May 25th, 2020.
"No," she replied.
