On Sunday, authorities responded to a shooting at a homecoming event near Prairie View A&M University in Texas, which law enforcement says left multiple people injured.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, KPRC 2 reported that at least seven people were injured after gunfire erupted at a "trail ride" event. The event was not an official university gathering, but it was approved by the County Judge.
The Waller County Sheriff's Office posted about the gathering on Facebook, asking those in the area to stay away.
One witness spoke with KHOU11 about the shooting, sharing that she had a "front row" view.
"They were fighting. After they got done fighting, a girl got shot," Chelsee Prophet, a witness, said.
Five medical helicopters were called to the scene to assist in transporting the victims, two of whom were reportedly 13 and 8 years old.
Law enforcement has not provided an update on the conditions of the victims at this time. According to KPRC 2, there were more than 1,000 people in attendance at the event.
An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
