Trump declares it's time to 'end the Democrat Epstein hoax'

The satirical artist behind the stunt has previously targeted Elon Musk and Tesla. The US president is facing criticism from his usually loyal Republican “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) supporters over suggestions that the administration is hiding details of Epstein’s crimes to protect the high profile figures he associated with, which included Trump. Having previously suggested that there was reason to investigate a rumoured list of clients, Trump has now refered to it as a hoax and called those calling for an investigation "weaklings". President Trump is once again calling renewed attention to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal a “Democrat hoax,” arguing that his opponents are exploiting the case for political gain rather than honoring victims or seeking justice.

His comments, posted Friday on Truth Social, come as survivors and lawmakers from both parties ramp up pressure for full transparency in the wake of newly released evidence, including previously missing surveillance footage from Epstein’s final hours.

The intensifying spotlight traces back to early September, when the House Oversight Committee released 33,295 pages of documents and a crucial minute of surveillance footage from outside Epstein’s jail cell that had been thought lost.

The move ignited calls from survivors, including at a Capitol Hill press conference, to declassify remaining materials and expose wrongdoing tied to powerful figures allegedly connected to Epstein’s sex trafficking.

The Department of Justice finds itself caught in the middle. A new sting video captured a senior DOJ official, Joseph Schnitt, suggesting redactions in the Epstein files may have been politically motivated—claims the DOJ quickly repudiated.

Meanwhile, survivors and bipartisan lawmakers are responding with demands for an independent investigation—Fueling the debate over transparency and accountability in how the case has unfolded.

Against this backdrop, Trump’s dismissal of the revived Epstein coverage as politically motivated underscores not only his long-standing efforts to label the case’s scrutiny as media-driven hyperbole, but also the deepening tensions between political theater and genuine calls for justice.
