White House issues 9 corrections to Biden's latest speech

As President Joe Biden continues to try and make his case for a second term in office, he ran headlong into trouble over the weekend, delivering a speech to the NAACP in Detroit that was riddled with mistakes.

The White House inserted nine separate corrections into the official transcript when it was released Monday, putting the corrections in brackets after what Biden actually said live.

The mistakes started right near the beginning of the speech when Biden talked about being Vice President of the country during the COVID outbreak, which actually happened while Mike Pence was VP serving under Donald Trump.

"And when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic [recession], and what happened was Barack said to me, 'Go to Detroit and help fix it,'" the transcript said, intimating that Biden was supposed to talk about the recession, not the pandemic.

He also misquoted his opponent Donald Trump, telling the crowd Trump said there would be "bloodshed" in the auto industry if he loses for a second time to Biden. The word Trump used was "bloodbath."

And he changed the entire meaning of a sentence when he said, "We're cracking down on corporate landlords who keep rents down," when he meant to say "cracking down on corporate landlords TO keep rents down."

Some of the mistakes were jumbled words, like when he said receiving an honorary degree from Morehouse College "truly inspiresing" and calling the rioters at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, "irrectionists." He also said Black women "have" nearly three times more likely to die from pregnancy complications when he apparently meant to say "are" more likely.

He also called the organization the "NAAC", leaving off the final letter of the acronym, and said he was honored to receive the "organization" when he meant to say "award."

The Biden administration has to hope he doesn't acquit himself this poorly next month when he enters into a debate with Trump on June 27.
