17-year-old arrested in connection to deadly shooting at Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock

A 17-year-old faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the deadly shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock on Saturday, police say.

Officers arrested Ricky Thompson III of Manor, Texas early Thursday morning, Round Rock police said. They are looking for other suspects in connection to the shooting.

Two people were killed, including a former Mansfield resident, and six others were injured in the shooting at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Saturday.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups during a concert at the Juneteenth celebration.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks told the Associated Press that the two people who were killed were not involved in the argument.
