Tropical weather is moving along the Gulf Coast with its aim on Texas.

Governor Greg Abbott has activated several state agencies and departments ahead of the disturbance which is currently affecting coastal areas of Louisiana.

"Texas is prepared to provide all necessary resources to support local officials as a severe storm system moves along the Gulf Coast toward East and Southeast Texas and the Texas coast," Abbott said Thursday.

A number of state resources will be made available if needed including the National Guard as well as the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Parks and Wildlife as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety have also been notified by the Governor's office.

"Texans are urged to take all necessary precautions for potential tropical weather," Abbott said. "The State of Texas will continue to closely monitor weather conditions to protect our communities."
