Abbott highlighted the critical role of water in supporting Texas' booming energy sector, semiconductor plants, and artificial intelligence initiatives.
Abbott said he expected lawmakers to make an investment in water infrastructure. Plans include improving the use of current water sources, expanding wastewater reuse, and advancing research on technologies like desalination.
The Texas Legislature, which meets every two years, faces the challenge of balancing economic growth with long-term resource management as the state continues to attract new residents and industries.
