Texas Governor Greg Abbott is backing a new plan to place chapters of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA on every high school and college campus in the state.

Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick outlined the effort Monday, urging students to report any school that blocks a chapter to the Texas Education Agency for potential disciplinary action.

The initiative, part of a program called “Club America,” seeks to expand the group’s presence beyond college campuses and into public high schools statewide.

Turning Point USA is known for promoting conservative political engagement among young people, often through campus events and club activities.

State leaders did not detail how oversight would work at individual campuses, but the announcement comes as broader debates continue over school-based political organizations and free-speech rights.

The Texas Education Agency has not yet released guidance on how it will handle disputes that arise under the new directive.
