Cities and counties in Texas will get new data on drug overdose cases through a computerized unified system.
The governor has signed a bill into law allowing healthcare workers and law enforcement officers to submit certain information about drug overdoses to a computerized mapping system.
Dallas City Council Member Adam Bazaldua says it will give policymakers a good idea of which neighborhoods have the biggest problems...and where they should devote their resources.
The system will track the date, time, and location of the overdose...but will not include the patient's name or personal information.
