Amazon wants to get your medications to you faster so it's testing a drone delivery program here in Texas.

The medical drone delivery system is being tested in College Station, the home of Texas A&M University.

Amazon customers can get their prescriptions filled at a secure pharmacy. The drone will carry the medication to the customers home, then 'deliver' it by dropping the padded package from about 13 feet.

Customers should get their medicine within an hour, according to the company, and they can choose from over 500 medications. But no controlled substances will be delivered.

Amazon wants to narrow the window between diagnosis and treatment, something that will benefit people suffering from acute illnesses like the flu or pneumonia.
