More than 250 families were evacuated because of a wildfire near Bastrop State Park east of Austin yesterday. The fire has blackened more than 600 acres.
A statement from the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Managements says "crews worked throughout the night continuing to create containment line and patrolling near homes for any threats."
Last night, fire management officials told reporters that it's too early to conclusively determine the cause of the fire but they said it was likely linked to a planned 150-acre prescribed burn in nearby Bastrop County State Park.
In 2011, a wildfire in the same area burned more than 50 square miles and left four people dead.
