Both Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger Colin Allred voted early Monday. Early voting in the November election started Monday across Texas and runs through Friday, November 1; the election itself is Tuesday, Nov. 5th.
Cruz voted early in Pearland, south of Houston, then hosted a rally.
"For 12 years, I've fought for lower taxes," he told the crowd. "I worked hand-in-hand with President Trump to pass the 2017 tax cuts, the biggest tax cuts in a generation."
Cruz said he would work to eliminate taxes on tips and social security.
"Colin Allred has voted over and over and over again for higher taxes, for trillions in new spending, for trillions in new debt, for printing money we don't have, which is driving unemployment and driving inflation that is hammering Texas families," Cruz said. "The cost of everything has gone through the roof."
Allred has said he has worked with both parties to ensure economic growth. He said he worked with the Trump Administration to pass the revised trade agreements with Mexico and Canada and also helped pass the Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Law.

Tuesday, Cruz plans events in Corpus Christi and McAllen. Allred will work a phone bank in Dallas with actress Connie Britton.
