One of the biggest gripes about Dallas is the lack of public transportation.  The Metroplex is so big, you NEED a car to get around to see and do everything.

However, the city is a lot more walkable than you might think, at least according to this survey.

According to Preply, Dallas ranked as the third “most-walkable” city in the nation, ranking only behind Chicago and Nashville.

Preply says that all “five of Dallas’ tourist hotspots” can be covered within 3,570 steps, which equates to 1.7 miles or 41 minutes of walking in total.

What’s strange though is that Preply cites both the Dallas Arboretum and the Reunion Tower on this route, which according to Google Maps are roughly eight miles from each other.  Good luck trying to walk down I-30’s service road to get to one or the other.

Texas fared fairly well in this survey with Austin and San Antonio also making the top 50 of most-walkable cities in the nation.

The bottom five worst-walkable cities include Orlando, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Memphis.
