At a college football game Saturday at Kyle Field in College Station, a trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety was relieved of his duties after video showed him making physical contact with two South Carolina Gamecocks players as they passed through a tunnel following a touchdown.

The trooper was sent home from the game and DPS confirmed that its Office of Inspector General is investigating the incident.

Video footage captured the moment when the players — including wide receiver Nyck Harbor and running back Oscar Adaway III — were returning to the field and a trooper appeared to deliberately shoulder-bump them and then turn to point and speak at them.

The university's police department posted that the trooper had been "relieved of his game-day assignment."

Meanwhile, DPS acknowledged awareness of the incident, confirmed the officer was sent home, and said the OIG would further review the matter.

The incident occurred during what turned into a dramatic comeback by the Texas A&M Aggies, who trailed early but rallied to secure a 31-30 win over South Carolina — yet attention remains on the off-field confrontation which has sparked criticism and social-media scrutiny.
