Federal agents in Laredo have arrested a father and son accused of smuggling hundreds of firearms, magazines, and rounds of ammunition across the U.S.-Mexico border. The arrests came after Customs and Border Protection officers discovered hidden compartments in two trailers during a routine inspection at a port of entry.

Investigators say the trailers contained roughly 400 firearms, along with high-capacity magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The seizure was part of an ongoing Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) operation targeting illegal weapons trafficking networks supplying cartels and criminal groups in Mexico.

Both suspects are facing federal charges related to the smuggling scheme. The case remains under investigation by HSI and CBP, with additional arrests possible as authorities trace the source and destination of the weapons.
