A federal program to boost wind generated power in the US will bring more renewable energy to Texas.
Three sites in the Gulf of Mexico will be put up for lease later this summer for the construction of new wind farms.
Reports say two of the locations are about 30 miles off the coast of Galveston, the other is off the coast of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Federal officials say the offshore wind turbines installed in the Gulf will be able to generate enough electricity to power more than a million homes.
Texas already leads the nation in wind energy.
