Finally, help is on the way for Texas homeowners trying to avoid pandemic related foreclosures.

The program is called the Texas Homeowner Assistance Fund (TXHAF) and more than $840 million is now available to help homeowners who are having trouble paying their mortgages and property taxes because of situations caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The money is part of the Biden Adminstration's American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. More than $10 Billion in federal money has been set aside to fund the programs.
Texas ran a pilot program and shelled out about $5 million to help 600 Texas families stay in their homes, according to reports.
The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs has already started taking applications. Homeonwers who qualify can get up to $40,000 to cover late mortgages payments and up to $25,000 to cover overdue property taxes.
