Firefighters are making some progress against the Double Back Fire in Johnson county where the total burned over acreage is now holding at 1,400.

The good news is the containment has now been increased to 60 percent as fire crews continue working in back-breaking conditions under stifling heat.

The fire has been burning since Sunday when it broke out near Godley.

Including the Godley blaze, a dozen wildfires are burning in the state this morning. The biggest is a 3,000 acre fire in Zapata County.

Nearly 80 percent of Texas is under Heat Advisories, Excessive Heat Warnings and Red Flag Warnings today. Every Texas county but two is in fire danger ranging from moderate to extreme today.
