"This massive drug seizure impacts way beyond our region where it was headed," Pharr Chief of Police Andy Harvey said. "This stemmed from a patrol officer’s attention to detail when he observed something out of the ordinary and he used our resources to further investigate."

The officer saw three men pouring a liquid from 55-gallon drums into smaller containers. When additional officers and the fire department arrived, they noticed the liquid was crystalizing around the barrels. Tests revealed it was liquid methamphetamine. The case is being referred to the DEA and federal prosecutors.

Investigators say the three men had about 700 gallons of the drug. They estimate the street value of that much liquid meth to be over $10 million.
