The so-called 'revenge tour' for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton impacted the state primaries on Super Tuesday as he went after fellow Republicans, even candidates the Texas Governor was backing.

Paxton made no bones about the fact that he was going after candidates who supported or voted to impeach him last year or those who opposed his policies.

SMU political science professor Matthew Wilson tells KRLD Paxton cost some politicians their political careers, including three court of appeals justices who lost in their races last night. The three female judges who stood up to Paxton, Sharon Keller, Barbara Parker Hervey, and Michelle Slaughter, were defeated.

"He has pretty strong support in Republican grass roots, and I think that really hurt some of the people who have become his political adversaries" said Wilson.

Wilson says his influence affected the outcome of the race with Texas House speaker Dade Phelan, who is now fighting for his political life. In State Rep District 21, Phelan came in second with 43% of the vote to David Covey with 46% of the vote. Phelan is responsible for bringing the vote to impeach Paxton to the house floor.
