Some Texas lawmakers are pushing to limit remote work for state employees, arguing that in-person attendance is necessary for efficiency and accountability.

State Sen. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock) has called for a study on remote work policies, stating that employees who live less than an hour from the Capitol should be required to work in the office daily. He is joined by Sen. Brandon Creighton (R-The Woodlands), who claims studies indicate that work-from-home arrangements are ineffective.

However, a study conducted by the Legislative Budget Board found strong support for remote work. State agencies report that allowing employees to work from home has led to cost savings.
