Two people who escaped from a jail in Louisiana earlier this month have been arrested in Texas; a third may have ties to the state. Tuesday morning, eight of the ten inmates had been caught after the escape May 16.

Two of the escapees from a jail in Louisiana were caught Monday night in Huntsville, north of Houston. The Huntsville Police Department posted pictures of Jermaine Donald and Leo Tate online being taken into custody.

"Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald were arrested on May 26th after leading law enforcement officers from several agencies on a high-speed chase through the Huntsville area," Huntsville Police wrote on Facebook.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Cameron Welch says the chase ended with a crash on the east side of Huntsville, near Highway 190 and Geneva Road. He says U.S. marshals from the Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force worked with DPS, the Montgomery and Walker County Sheriff's Departments and Huntsville Police to pursue leads and tips.

Welch says the two are in DPS custody awaiting extradition to Louisiana.

Of the two escapees still on the loose, Antoine Massey also has ties to Texas. Massey, 33, has a criminal background dating to 2007.

That year, investigators say he escaped a "troubled youth center" in New Orleans and was captured along Interstate 10.

In 2019, the Morehouse Parish sheriff says Massey escaped from a jail there. Morehouse Parish is in northern Louisiana along the Arkansas border.

The sheriff says Massey escaped with another inmate. They were tracked along I-20 and arrested the same day in Lancaster, Texas, just south of Dallas.
