Texas Democratic lawmakers are pressing Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to call a special session of the Texas legislature to deal with the massacre in Uvalde.

Democratic leaders insist people are demanding restrictions on some guns, like the assault-style weapon the Uvalde shooter bought legally when he turned 18.

Texas is one of several states that allows 18-year-olds to buy rifles, or long guns. Many people want that age upped to 21, arguing you have to be 21 to buy cigarettes in Texas.

But some Republican leaders say it's too early to discuss legislative fixes and want to wait until the investigation into the mass shooting is further alone.
