The Texas Eclipse Festival, a music and arts festival celebrating the 2024 total solar eclipse, was canceled just hours before the rare celestial event.

The eclipse-centered event in Burnet which was supposed to wrap up Tuesday, has officially been canceled due to risks of high winds, tornadic activity, large hail, and thunderstorms.

Nearly 30,000 people were scheduled to attend the Central Texas event.

"Your safety is our top priority. With the support and coordination of Burnet County officials, local safety agencies, and The National Weather Service, we’ve agreed to end the festival today in a calm orderly manner" festival organizers wrote in a post on social media.

Festival organizers are telling everyone who has already arrived to expect a large amount of traffic as people begin to leave.

Festival officials say all attendees will receive a partial refund because of the early closure. Information will be sent through email.
