An American Airlines flight from Texas to North Carolina was forced to make an emergency landing in Houston after one of the ovens on the plane caught on fire shortly after takeoff.

According to FlightAware date, the flight had taken off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport just before 2 p.m. local time and arrived in Houston just after 3 p.m.  On a flight that short we're not sure what was being cooked in the oven.  That short a flight and at that time, it's usually just snacks and drinks.

Regardless, American Airlines said in a statement, "The aircraft landed safely and without incident, and taxied to the gate under its own power. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and appreciate our team members for their professionalism."

Most importantly, nobody was injured in the incident, according to NBC News.

However, the passengers on the flight did experience significant delays.

Though after a 30-minute inspection determined the aircraft was "fire-safe," customers didn't depart Houston until just before 11 p.m. local time, and landed in Charlotte shortly before 2 a.m. local time.
