Texas health officials are set to provide an update Tuesday on a deadly measles outbreak, which has primarily affected young children.

According to doctors, nearly one in three cases in the outbreak involves children under the age of four. Those who survive may face long-term health complications, including brain inflammation, Dr. Sapna Singh said.

The chief medical officer at Texas Children's Hospital echoed statements from President Donald Trump’s Health Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who wrote in a recent op-ed that vaccines help protect children and contribute to herd immunity. She urged parents with concerns about vaccination to consult their doctors.
