Texas native Jim Seals, half of the 70s soft rock duo Seals & Crofts, has died at the age of 80.
Seals was born in Sidney and grew up in Iraan in West Texas.
He teamed up with fellow Texan Dash Crofts and the pair had a string of early 70s hits, most notably 1972's "Summer Breeze."
Seals was the older brother of Dan Seals, a Dallas Samuell High School graduate who was also part of another successful 70's duo, "England Dan and John Ford Coley." Dan Seals died in 2009 at the age of 61.
