Right now, the minimum wage in Texas is $7.25, and that was a raise from 2009. State Representative Armando Walle of Houston believes that there's no way a person can live on that in this time of age.

"So you can't pay your rent adequately, or you can't pay your electricity bill, or you're floating that electricity bill and trying to catch up gas in your car," Walle said.

He has filed a bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. This is the fifth time the Democrat has filed this bill. He calls that a happy medium. He said it won't make people whole, but would allow people to better provide for their families.

"You'd have to work two to three jobs at 100 hours a week to try and sustain yourself," Walle said. "How are you going to take care of loved ones that might get sick."

He said this should not be a partisan issue because all hard-working Texans deserve to live with dignity.
