The rivalry between postal service workers and dogs is a trope as old as time, but there may be some truth to that long-standing feud. ESPECIALLY here in Texas.
A new report from the United States Postal Service found that Texas is one of the worst states in the nation for dog biting incidents with postal workers, coming in at No. 2 on the list.
Leeann Theriault, USPS Manager of Employee Safety and Health Awareness, said, "Letter carriers are exposed to potential hazards every day, none more prevalent than a canine encounter. All it takes is one interaction for a letter carrier to possibly suffer an injury."
Further, Dallas ranked as one of the worst cities for dog bite incidents, coming in at No. 7. Houston ranked as the second-worst city for dog biting incidents, followed only by Los Angeles.
Fort Worth ranked as the fourth worst city in Texas for digs biting postal workers, with Grand Prairie and Garland tying for ninth worst.
