Texas and other states are suing to end a federal program that would give nearly half a million illegal immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens a path to citizenship.

The states filed suit today to halt the program launched by President Biden in June. They say in court papers that the Biden administration bypassed Congress to create a pathway to citizenship for "blatant political purposes."

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says the plan "violates the Constitution and actively worsens the illegal immigration disaster that is hurting Texas and our country."

Supporters of the program - though - say obstacles have made it difficult and risky for these immmigrants and they deserve humanitarian parole. They add that this policy allows them to stay with their families and continue to work while their visas are approved.
