President Trump has declared a state of emergency at the border. But will he be able to crack down on illegal immigrants who are already in the country as he has promised to do?
Immigration lawyers across North Texas are dusting off the law books and sharpening pencils after President Trump's promise to deport illegal immigrants.
Carrollton lawyer Nathan Christensen takes the President at his word that he will try to conduct mass deportations.
"The law is still there, he can't change that," Christensen said. "So every single person that is subject to deportation still has the right to be able to go through the immigration removal process, and unfortunately, that's backlogged substantially, so it's not going to happen overnight."
He has already been getting calls from worried people. Christensen shared that the President's promise to resume his "remain in Mexico" policy could work to cut down on the number of people who try to get into the country illegally.
