It's the question every year- when will the fall colors appear in Texas? At least this year, it seems we have a while to wait.
A map from SmokyMountains.com forecasts fall foliage every year. It calculates start, peak and past peak fall foliage using historic and forecasted temperature and precipitation, tree types, and user-reported information.
Hints of color will first appear in the Panhandle and west Texas around October 14. The whole state won't have noticeable change until the end of next month.
Peak foliage will start around November 11 out west, and spread southeast through Texas in the rest of November. Though the map doesn't go this far, the Texas coastal bend may not see peak fall foliage until the first week of December!
