A roller coaster ride with temperatures, some rain this week, and a beautiful weekend ahead are your weather stories over the next 7 days.
Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, but unfortunately, it's back to work and school. Welcome to December! We're waking up to an overcast sky and a few showers starting to show up on radar. Temperatures are chilly, with readings ranging from 36° to 44° from northwest to southeast. Keep your umbrella handy, as some scattered showers are in the forecast this morning through the afternoon, but the more measurable rain will stay well to the south and east of us as the day wears on. Temperatures will not warm up much, with highs in the low to mid-40s.
Be sure to protect your plants and pets overnight tonight, as temperatures will fall anywhere between 25° and 30°. We will most likely experience the first official freeze at DFW airport by tomorrow morning. Also, I cannot rule out some patchy fog. If this occurs, we could have some freezing fog around the area, so I'll keep an eye on those bridges and overpasses for you before you wake up and give you a heads up if this does happen.
A beautiful Tuesday is ahead, with warming temperatures, sunny skies, and highs in the mid-50s. It gets even better than that on Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
Don't let your guard down, as another strong cold front arrives Wednesday evening, dropping temperatures back into the 40s for highs on Thursday. Abundant cloud cover and a chance for some rain are in the forecast. Model data is all over the place as far as where the heavy rain will fall. Right now, it's showing the heaviest rain south and east of DFW. Last night, it showed it covering all of North Texas. I'll keep an eye on radar trends for you. Just keep your umbrella handy for Thursday and your jacket as well.
By Friday, skies will slowly clear, and temperatures will warm into the low to mid-50s. Looking ahead to the weekend, you can expect plenty of sunshine through the period.
Saturday's highs will warm into the mid-60s. Sunday will be cooler behind another cold front, with highs only near 50°. As of now, it doesn't look like this weekend's front will bring any rain with it.
Enjoy the roller coaster ride and the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
