Frigid temperatures continue and a few flurries are possible later today across north Texas.

Potentially hazardous road conditions are anticipated Tuesday into early Wednesday 150+ miles south of DFW. Afternoon highs today and tomorrow will struggle to exceed 35 degrees. Overnight lows will plummet into the twenties and teens again for tomorrow and Wednesday mornings. Furthermore, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect, with a possibility of snow flurries this evening through 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Welcome to mid-January across North Texas.

Good morning, and happy MLK Day. While many of you have the day off, I do not, as this is the life of a meteorologist. We are waking up this morning to temperatures in the teens to low 20s, with wind chills in the single digits in some areas. Please remember to keep your faucets dripping and pets indoors. Increasing clouds are expected today, with afternoon highs in the low to mid-30s.

By this evening through 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, snow flurries and a possible dusting are anticipated in isolated areas. A reinforcing shot of dry air will arrive early tomorrow morning, pushing clouds and precipitation out of the area. In contrast, Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for areas approximately 180 miles south and southeast of the Dallas Fort Worth area, where travel conditions may become hazardous. If you must travel to these areas, it is advisable to do so today, as conditions will improve by Wednesday afternoon.

By Wednesday, North Texas can expect brilliant sunshine, but chilly temperatures will persist, with afternoon highs reaching the low to mid-40s. Temperatures will continue to rise, reaching the upper 50s by Friday. Our January thaw will continue into the upcoming weekend, with daytime highs returning to the sixties. Additionally, there is a possibility of precipitation in the form of rain by next Sunday.

IMPORTANT: Travel south of an Austin to College Station to Lufkin line may become increasingly difficult overnight tonight through the day tomorrow. The highest accumulating snow is currently anticipated along the I-10 corridor from Houston to New Orleans. Road conditions in these areas will rapidly improve by the second half of Wednesday. I will provide another update later today if conditions change.

Have a great day and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
