Cool Down Today, Warming to Weekend Storms

Cool Down Today, Warming to Weekend Storms

A cool, comfortable start this morning and a cool finish to the day. A few scattered strong storms are possible south and east of DFW. Thursday will be beautiful if you don’t mind the clouds. Temperatures will heat up Friday through the weekend, with scattered storms possible both Saturday and especially Sunday.

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to Wednesday!

A light jacket will be necessary for some this morning as temperatures have fallen into the 50s across the northern half of North Texas. A cold front is draped to our south, so temperatures from Hillsboro to Corsicana are in the 70s. We have almost a 20-degree temperature difference between Gainesville and Waco at this hour.

This front has stalled and will be the focal point for scattered showers and strong storms to develop as the day wears on. Some showers could sneak into areas along Interstate 30 before the day is done, but nothing is expected to be severe. Afternoon highs will be in the 60s behind the front and in the 80s ahead of the front.

This front will get the push it needs to move all the way down toward the Texas Coast by late tomorrow. Behind the front, clouds will stick around for most of the day tomorrow, so temperatures will remain nice and comfortable. Most areas will struggle to reach 70 degrees. Enjoy!

Sunshine returns Friday, with afternoon highs jumping into the middle 80s. This weekend will be warm and humid, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. There will be some scattered storms across the southern parts of North Texas on Saturday and anywhere across North Texas on Sunday. The timing, strength, and track of the next weather system will be monitored as we approach the weekend.

Another cold front will move through the area before the weekend is over. This will lead to a cooler start next Monday, with highs back in the 70s. The cool-down won’t last long, as we return to the 80s by Tuesday.

Have a terrific day today, and enjoy the weather when you can — it’s the only weather you’ve got!
