Above average temperatures, below average precipitation, a weak cold front, a stronger cold front, and increasing rain chances by early to mid-next week are the key weather stories for the next seven days.

Good morning, and happy Wednesday. This morning, some of you may require a light jacket, while others will not, as temperatures have only dropped to the mid-to-upper 50s under a mostly clear sky. Following a very windy day yesterday, it will remain breezy today, but not as windy as yesterday. Daytime highs will peak in the low to mid-80s, with a south-southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph. Additionally, I would like to mention an elevated grass fire danger west of the Dallas-Fort Worth area this afternoon.

The polar jet stream will continue to push Arctic air through the northern Plains, Midwest, and Northeastern United States, where parts of the Northeast will experience three more bouts of snow over the next week. Fortunately, no Arctic air is expected in our area anytime soon.

A weak cold front will pass through late tonight and early tomorrow morning, reducing temperatures to the mid-to-upper 70s for highs, with morning lows in the upper 40s to low 50s, rounding out our work week. South winds will return on Friday.

These southerly winds will pick up over the weekend, with gusts up to 30 mph, as temperatures warm back into the low to mid-80s on both Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy the weather.

Our next weather change will evolve slowly into early next week. A stronger cold front will attempt to move into the area on Monday. If it passes through, afternoon highs will hover in the mid-50s all day. Areas south of DFW may reach the 80s once again. This is something I will continue to monitor.

The front will gain momentum on Tuesday and move well south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Afternoon highs will be in the 60s, with a chance for scattered showers and storms behind the front. This front may lift north by Tuesday night, putting us in an active weather pattern for Wednesday and Thursday, with widespread shower and thunderstorm activity. I will continue to monitor this situation over the coming days.

In the meantime, have a great day today, and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
