For the first time in nearly a year, Hawaii's Kilauea volcano is again erupting.

Beginning yesterday, this eruption of Hawaii's youngest and most active volcano is creating eye-popping pictures and video showing glowing red lava bubbling and flowing inside Halema'uma'u crater which is part of the much larger Kilauea Caldera at the summit of Kilauea volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports lava fountains are reaching the height of five-story buildings.
Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park remains open to visitors who are able to observe the eruption from a safe distance.
Kilauea's most recent eruption was in December of last year. Two years before that, a major eruption destroyed hundreds of homes and other structures as the lava flowed down the slope and into the ocean for months.
