The initial two-thirds of November have been relatively calm, but the final third is expected to be quite different. Three separate storm systems will increase the flooding threat over the next seven to ten days, accompanied by significantly colder temperatures after Thanksgiving. Please remain weather-aware.
Good morning, and happy Wednesday. Did you have an opportunity to view the meteor showers overnight? Unfortunately, I was asleep and missed them. We are waking up to a rapidly moving low cloud bank from the south, which will lead to cloudy skies within the next hour or two. Temperatures are unusually mild for this time of year, with most areas still in the 70s.
Yesterday, we broke the record high of 83 degrees, reaching 87 degrees. Although no records will be broken today, it will remain warm for this time of year, with afternoon highs in the low to mid-80s. Scattered showers will move in from the south later this afternoon and evening, with the best chances in Central Texas.
By this evening and overnight, a large area of showers and storms will develop to our southwest and west, gradually moving in our direction by daybreak on Thursday. There is a marginal risk of severe storms developing by this evening and continuing through the overnight, with wind and small hail being the primary threats. Morning lows will dip into the upper 60s to low 70s.
Thursday is expected to be a rainy day, with possible flood watches in place. I am awaiting further updates from the weather service. Regardless, we can expect one to four inches of rain across the area, with the heaviest totals north and west of DFW. Please stay tuned for updates over the next six to twelve hours. Although the severity remains low on Thursday, I cannot rule out one or two warnings for wind and small hail.
The rain will slowly move out of the area by daybreak on Friday, with slow clearing during the afternoon. Afternoon highs will still reach the mid-70s, with dry air moving in from the west. A weak cold front will pass through late Friday night, dropping temperatures into the upper 60s for highs on Saturday. This will be the best day of the week.
Another storm system will arrive on Sunday and Monday, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorm activity. I am more concerned about the potential for heavy rain than severe weather, but I will continue to monitor the situation. It is still too early to discuss rainfall totals, but I can assure you that we will see significant rain. This system will move out by Monday.
Tuesday and Wednesday appear to be decent days for travel, with good afternoon highs in the 60s and morning lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Seasonable weather is expected for this time of year.
It will turn cold around Thanksgiving and remain cold through the Thanksgiving weekend. Although it is still too early to determine the exact temperature ranges, current data suggests highs will remain in the 40s from Friday to Sunday, with more rain expected the following weekend after Thanksgiving.
I appreciate your continued support and would be grateful if you could share my page. I will provide accurate updates over the coming days. Have a great day and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
