Above-average temperatures, two chances for showers, and even some strong thunderstorms, and no Arctic air in the near future. These are the key weather stories for this Tuesday morning, February 10th, 2026.

Good morning. I hope you had a pleasant Monday. We nearly broke a record high temperature at DFW Airport yesterday, with temperatures reaching 84 degrees. The record, set in 1960, stands at 86 degrees. This marks the 12th 80-degree temperature this winter, a remarkable occurrence.

We are experiencing mild temperatures for this time of year, with readings in the low to mid-60s. Low clouds are moving in from the south, but they are not currently precipitating. There will be some breaks in the clouds today, accompanied by a gentle breeze. Afternoon highs will rise to the upper 70s, with a south wind blowing at 10 to 20 mph, making for a spring-like day. I am tracking our next storm system, which will move across the area late tonight through mid-morning Wednesday.

Showers will develop overnight, mainly while you are sleeping. You may want to allow extra time for your morning commute, as roads may be wet in some areas. The system will rapidly move east before noon, giving way to clearing skies behind a weak cold front. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, with highs in the upper 60s.

You will need a light jacket Thursday morning, as temperatures will fall into the 40s, but will warm up rapidly to the upper 70s, nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of year. The next system I am tracking will move across the area Friday night through Saturday. Friday will be a transition day, with increasing clouds and temperatures rising to the mid-to-upper 70s.

By Friday night, a large area of rain will move in from the west. While I do not expect anything too severe, there will be rumbles of thunder and heavy rain while you are sleeping into Saturday morning. As the morning and early afternoon progress, the dry line in West Texas will become active, producing a line of showers and storms. It is still too early to determine if these will be severe, as several variables need to come into play. If the system slows down and reaches the area by Saturday evening, the threat of severe weather will increase. Residents east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, through the Mississippi River Valley, can expect severe storms to develop Saturday night into Sunday morning. All modes of severe weather are possible, and this is something I will be closely monitoring. Highs on Saturday will hold near 70 degrees.

Remember, Saturday is Valentine's Day, so please check back for updates on the timing. I will strive to provide a clearer forecast by the evening, so do not forget to make plans to spoil your loved one.

Sunday will be beautiful behind the system, with low humidity and high temperatures in the upper 60s. Washington's birthday will be equally pleasant, with sunshine and highs returning to the 70s.

Have a wonderful day today, and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
