Thursday's North Texas 7-Day Forecast
Welcome to the warm and muggy conditions, everyone. This humidity is expected to persist until next Wednesday, marking the last half of May. Additionally, shower and thunderstorm chances are back in the forecast today through next Tuesday, with some potentially becoming severe, especially over the weekend and into early next week.
Good morning, and welcome to almost Friday. We are waking up to a mostly cloudy sky, humid conditions, and very mild temperatures for this time of year. The average low is 64 degrees, while actual temperatures are ranging from the low to mid-70s. Please ensure you have an umbrella and vehicle ready, as you will need them intermittently over the next six days.
Currently, there is no activity on the radar, but after noon, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop across North Texas. While severe weather is not a major concern for us, it is essential to remain vigilant. Afternoon highs will reach around 90 degrees, with any showers moving eastward by evening.
Low clouds will move in overnight, with morning lows in the low to mid-70s and no rain is forecast.
Friday will bring morning clouds and afternoon sun, with highs in the low 90s. There is another chance for showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours, potentially forming east and south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. While the threat is not significant, it will be monitored closely.
The weekend is expected to be stormy, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours. A strong upper-level disturbance will ignite the dry line, leading to widespread shower and thunderstorm activity, some severe, with large hail being a primary threat. These storms will develop west of the Dallas-Fort Worth area after 3:00 p.m. and should weaken and move eastward by mid-to-late evening. Please stay weather-aware. Afternoon highs will be in the 90s before the rain moves in.
The unseasonably warm weather and high humidity will persist into Monday and Tuesday of next week, with afternoon highs near 90 degrees. There is also a threat of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms, some of which may become severe. This marks the beginning of the second half of May.
Fortunately, a strong cold front is expected to move through the area sometime Tuesday, bringing an end to the storm chances for the rest of the week. Very dry air will move in, with cool morning lows and afternoon highs only in the 70s. This is a welcome relief.
Please stay weather-aware, especially over the weekend and into early next week. If necessary, we will activate the KRLD Storm Center team coverage, providing updates at least every 10 minutes.
Have a great day today, and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
