Unseasonably warm temperatures, a flirtatious cold front, unseasonably warm again, a stronger cold front, and widespread rain are anticipated over the next seven days.
Friday started with mild and muggy conditions in North Texas, with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s and a low cloud deck overhead. Areas of sunshine are expected, with afternoon highs approaching 80 degrees, close to the record of 83 degrees.
Another cold front will arrive Thursday night and position itself across North Texas Friday, maintaining temperatures on the cool side north of the front, with highs in the 50s and low 60s, and near 80 degrees south of the front. It is likely to remain cloudy most of the day on Friday, with some patchy drizzle behind the front.
The front is expected to stay south of DFW until Friday night. Temperatures will be warm on Saturday, with morning clouds and afternoon sunshine. The record high for Saturday is 85 degrees, which could be broken.
By Saturday night, another cold front will arrive, moving well south of Dallas-Fort Worth on Sunday. Windy and chillier air will filter into the area, with some patchy drizzle and temperatures starting in the mid-50s in the early morning hours, dropping into the 40s by late morning, and leveling off in the low 50s by afternoon. A chilly and damp Super Bowl Sunday is expected, although no measurable rain is forecasted.
Next week will be quite chilly behind the front, with temperatures staying on the cool side through the end of the week and a second front arriving on Wednesday.
With colder air in place, two upper-level disturbances will impact our weather, bringing waves of moderate rain across the area. The first disturbance is expected to arrive Monday night through Tuesday, and the second wave of rain will arrive on Wednesday.
Temperatures will hover in the 40s Monday through Wednesday, and it will stay chilly through the rest of the week with no precipitation.
