Two early changes during the pandemic designed to boost the economy will remain after restrictions are lifted in California on June 15th. To-go cocktails and expanded outdoor seating will stick around until at least the end of 2021.
In March of 2020 California's Dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control eased its alcohol restrictions to allow for bars & restaurants to sell alcohol to go as long as it was ordered with food. Now they aren't going anywhere for a while and there's bills currently in the state senate & assembly looking to make them permanently legal.
Several cities and counties around the Bay Area and the state are also working on making their pandemic-friendly outdoor dining changes permanent. Sa Jose Downtown Association business development manager, Nate LeBlanc said he expects a real Roaring 20s type vibe moving forward, “People are going to be in a celebratory mood. People are going to be happy to be out again.”
