The 110 Freeway has reopened after it was shut down in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday by protestors calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
The protest began around 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes. It was organized by IfNotNow, a Jewish movement to end U.S. support to Israel.
“There can be no business as usual as long as the Biden administration uses our tax dollars to fund war crimes and the murdering of children in Gaza," IfNotNow organizer Adam Hirsch said in a statement. "As Jews of conscience who hold every human life as sacred, we have no choice but to take mass disruptive action until there is a lasting ceasefire, an end to the occupation, and dignified freedom for all people in Palestine and Israel.”

Footage by KNX’s Margaret Carrero showed protestors blocking cars by sitting in the lanes and chanting.
Just before 10 a.m. California Highway Patrol officers gave dispersal orders to protestors. 75 protesters were arrested, according to CHP.
By 10:35, motorists began moving again.
One driver told KNX News that she fully supports the protestors’ message. Another driver, however, expressed his frustration as he was trying to get to the hospital to see his dying father.
